Every Monday at 10 PM, the historic Pieces Bar in the West Village transforms into the beating heart of the city's drag scene for one reason: DRAG WARS NYC.
Founded in 2012 by icon and nightlife legend Shequida Hall, Drag Wars is the longest-running and most influential amateur drag competition in Manhattan. Before drag became mainstream television, Drag Wars was already shaping the next generation of superstars right here in NYC.
Today, Drag Wars continues to pack the room weekly with locals, tourists, superfans, and curious gays asking the eternal question:
"What is something fun and queer to do on a Monday night in New York City?"

At the center of Drag Wars stands one queen: Shequida Hall--the opera-singing, razor-tongued, brilliantly camp polyglot of Manhattan's drag competition scene.
Shequida is not just a host--she is the blueprint. A Juilliard-trained vocalist, a legendary performer, and a visionary who created Drag Wars as a space she never had:
a fair, inclusive competition where new drag artists could shine, grow, and become stars.
For over a decade, Shequida has mentored, roasted, inspired, and occasionally traumatizedh undreds of performers on the Pieces stage. Her commitment to integrity, professionalism, and absolute chaos is what makes war Wars unlike any other drag show in the city.
